Skype’s voice translator to be tested by the public

50,000 people signed up to pre-beta test Skype’s voice language translator on the first day. It’s looking less like sci-fi every day now.

Is it the right time for smartwatches?

So far only 1% of the UK own a smartwatch. Maybe Father Christmas will be bringing some more. Otherwise, perhaps Apple will convince their fans to buy the Apple Watch when it’s released in spring. We’d love to hear a review from any ELTjam readers who have one!

Facebook changes for authors

2015 looks like it will see author pages following the same restrictions (or ‘opportunities’ to boost posts) as business pages. If Twitter follow suit, promoting books is going to get expensive for self-published authors.

Traditional trumps tech?

Plenty of ways to contest these findings, but interesting to question our assumptions about ‘old-fashioned’ teaching methods.
